Smiler

For my dad’s 60th birthday, the Kellett family took a trip to Ireland for some celebrations, relaxing, and visiting family. This picture was taken whilst visiting family over in Galway, where they have a gorgeous house in a very remote & scenic part of the country.

This was the maiden voyage for my new 35mm lens. I’m a huge fan of the 50mm, but I forced myself to use the 35mm more on this trip, to see what it could do. Plenty of posed photos preceded this shot, but I always think the candid fly-on-the-wall pictures are best, or at least tell the mood of the day the best. This summarises the mood of the day brilliantly.
