Friendship

A few years back I, along with, my dad, my friends, and 20+ other strangers rode from Belfast to Galway, across Ireland, in gorgeous weather with a prevailing tail wind all the way. It was part of the Prestwick Cycle Challenge charity cycle (Although the ‘challenge’ part of this stunning trip wasn’t as emphasised as the other dozens of years the PCC has been run).

This particular image is my favourite from that trip. It’s my Dad & my friend Jim posing together as they accidentally wore matching charity cycling jerseys from years gone by.

The cafe, which now seems to be permanently closed, was called the Wee Tea Room in Fivemiletown. the lady on service that day handled 20 cyclists like it was no big deal.

The gay pride aspect of this image didn’t go unnoticed, but despite that, this photo summarises my memories of that trip perfectly; all smiles and sunshine.
